![]() ![]() ![]() Maybe I'm not the target audience, and they're going after more content-creation folks? Luckily, I'm using it on another person's dime (white-label editing basically), but wanted to start that discussion in case I'm missing something. Reviewing the prices, it also sits slightly above frame's pricing at $35 a seat, whereas frame begins at around $15-25. Those are great questions, and I'd love to hear other views, but my major viewpoint is that shift hasn't brought anything new to the table, and worse, there are gripes I'm surprised they shipped with given where the market is. This is a pain in the butt if you have multiple projects and have to manually go into profile > My profile > Preferences > Custom Download Destination **EVERY** time prior to a download. File download locations not configurable to ask for each download: once you set a download location, it holds it until that drive is not accessible or that folder missing.Even then, the prompt was that the "downloaded completed" even though it wasn't the case Issues with video file sizes: It appears that the service with re-encode your files, but we ran into issues where a large raw video was uploaded with no error, but was either stuck in encoding or corrupted without alert On download, the shift platform would only error the download after hours of trying.Sometimes file previews work as a thumb, but not when you want to review: Certain files, such as SVGs, are available to view in the thumbnail, but if you were to pull up for review, they don't work! Add this in with the hair-pulling "this file name is too long, here's a bunch of ellipsis" issue, and the frustration compounds. Also, you can delete versions without confirmation (big no no in my book) Version comparison/stacking bugs: Another nit is that there's no way to *unstack* versions, and unfortunately in-a-totally-hypothetical-situation-wink-wink someone accidentally stacks the wrong files, there's no way to undo this.I don't see any way to import comments to timeline as you might with Frame.io. ![]() This looks to be more of a bug where the functionality between team members is limited by their account type as well. Crippled UI2: Another nit is that the UI doesn't allow you to hide/check the notes as they're completed. Here a slate would be a catch, or the ability to resize windows if that functionality existed, but for social media cuts when you remove said slate, it can be a pain in the butt. Crippled UI: if you've ever done projects with media buys, you know how long naming conventions can be, and within the reviews, it can be difficult to figure out what's being reviewed, especially if there are multiple cut downs with the differences as a suffix to the file name and it only appears as "PROJECT_FILE.".Cost: per user, it appears relatively cheap! $35/user."security" functions, so you can restrict access if working with contractors. The ability to upload and review stills/graphics as well as video (although it wasn't working 100% of the time, and more on that later. It's functionality already exists in a working state with other services, so I'm going to continue using vimeo for video reviews and box.com for my asset collection and versioning. Shift.io is a promising platform for enterprise asset sharing, but as of May of 2022, is just a buggier version of frame.io. I've also used Vimeo's review, Frame.io, Box, and dropbox, and the TL DR is: I had the good fortune of being able to try shift.io's review platform and just wanted to share some initial thoughts on it as it stands in May of 2022. ![]()
